CPF

CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) is a document required for many different situations in Brazil, such as the opening of a bank account, purchase of goods, purchase of plane tickets, etc. It is not a mandatory document for foreign students, like the RNE. To have a CPF issued to you as a foreigner, you must go through the following steps:

  • Go to any Banco do Brasil post office agency (there are agencies in each of our campi) or to a Caixa Econômica Federal agency, fill a form out and pay a fee (R$5,70). For this, you must have
    • Your passport
    • Visa application form
    • Your address in Brazil
    • Money to pay the fee
  • After 24 hours, you must go to Receita Federal (Av. Dr. Francisco Junqueira, 2625) with the following documents in order to get your CPF number:
    • Your passport
    • Visa application form
    • Proof of payment for the fee
    • Proof of residence (this can be any phone, energy, TV, etc bill, as long as it was issued less than 90 days before, or a statement signed by the person responsible for the residence stating that the foreigner lives at the given address)
