Law School of Ribeirão Preto

Regarding the accommodation in Ribeirão Preto, USP doesn’t offer student accommodation in campus. Accommodations that exist on campus are dedicated exclusively to Brazilian students who cannot afford housing.

About 80% of USP Ribeirão Preto students are not from the city of Ribeirão Preto. So most of the students join themselves in small groups, rent houses, buy furniture, pay the monthly bills and so. It is a very interesting option because students learn to share costs and take care of the house. It is a model inspired by the fraternities. In Brazil, this kind of housing is named “República”.

Some Repúblicas have a vacant room (individual or shared) and offer to foreigner students to live. This way international students have the opportunity to live in Brazilians’ houses, which facilitates the integration between them, learning Portuguese, the experience at USP and in Ribeirão Preto.
